22Designs

22 Designs is based in Driggs, Idaho and takes it's name from Wyoming Highway 22, which goes over the nearby Teton Pass.
Started in 2004 by Chris Valiante and Colin Pringle, 22 Designs inherited the famous HammerHead bindings from Rainey Designs which they continued to produce until 2013.
In the meantime 22 Designs developed the 75 mm touring binding the Axl that hit the market in 2009, and the resort version the Vice, in 2012. These bindings share many of the characteristics of the HammerHead with twin springs underfoot and adjustable activity thanks to a pin underfoot with a choice of slots.
In 2016 22 Designs started making bindings with the NTN standard with the introduction of the Outlaw X bindings. The NTN equivalent of the Axl, the Outlaw X also has tour and ski modes that are easily selected using the lever in front of the bindings.
These solid bindings are very popular, combining as they do the precise control of the original Rottefella NTN bindings with a longer more progressive flex. In walk mode there is plenty of articulation for efficient climbing. The Outlaw X is particularly popular with bigger stronger skiers wanting a bombproof binding.
In 2020 22 Designs introduced the Lynx, a 2-PIN NTN binding similar to the Inwild Meidjo 3 SR.
For skiers who enjoyed using the Outlaw X bindings but only skied inbounds, in 2024 ss Designs produced the Bandit a lighter and cheaper binding with the same overall design as the Outlaw x, but without the tour mode. Lighter and cheaper, the Bandit X has rapidly gained a loyal following.
