Arva

The French company Nic Impex was founded in 1984 in the heart of the Alps by Nicole Giraudon, a world collegiate ski champion. The company's inception stemmed from a drive to improve skier safety offpiste, leading to the launch of France’s first avalanche transceiver, the ARVA 4000, in 1985. This pioneering device allowed skiers to locate victims buried in avalanches, a true revolution for mountain safety at the time.

Over the decades, Nic Impex became a leading manufacturer for avalanche safety equipment as well as being the French distributor for several brands including Sea to Summit, Fritschi and Colltex. The company continued innovating, introducing one of the world's first all-digital avalanche beacons in 1998, significantly enhancing ease of use and reliability. In the early 2000s Nic Impex rebranded their own products under the ARVA brand.

ARVA remains an independent family-owned company run by Patrick Giraudon, the founder’s son and ARVA equipment is sold in more than 35 countries and trusted by a broad range of users, from backcountry enthusiasts to ski patrollers and search-and-rescue professionals.
