Black Diamond have been producing lightweight touring skis with carbon construction for over 12 years. From the earliest Carbon Convert models to the Helio Carbon series, these skis have gained a loyal following since they combine a light yet robust construction with a snappy flex and superior downhill performance. Just what you need in a modern touring ski. Black Diamond have always emphasized the downhill capabilities of these skis, with for example their well known publicity "It's all about the Down", however these skis are equally effective when climbing, the carbon construction and latest generation design features making these skis very light for their width.

For 2027 Black Diamond have updated the series. There are still four models. The Helio Carbon 88 & 95 retain the same width underfoot, while the wider skis have been been slimmed down from 104 & 115 mm to 102 and 108 mm, the latter more practical width for powder touring.

The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 108s are designed to excel in deep powder while remaining stable on firmer snow and runouts. Built with a responsive poplar wood core combined with a pre-preg carbon fiber layup, the Helio Carbon 108s have excellent torsional stiffness, a balanced flex and a damp stable feel. Durable 5mm beveled ABS sidewalls enhance edge hold in harder snow conditions and add robustness, while the rockered tip and tail deliver excellent flotation and maneuverability in tight terrain, adding the playful and lively character. For added durability Black Diamond have given these skis reinforced ABS tail protector with a built-in skin-clip notch, helping to secure skins during climbs. As well as offering plenty of flotation in powder snow, the 108s are impressively light for the uphill, weighing in at only 3.19 kg / pair (180 cm).

The widest ski in Black Diamond's 2027 Helio Carbon series, the 108 offers excellent soft snow touring performance with the versatility to also ski well in harder snow conditions.
