Black Diamond Helio Carbon 88 Ski 2026

Black Diamond have been producing lightweight touring skis with carbon construction for over 12 years. From the earliest Carbon Convert models to the Helio Carbon series, these skis have gained a loyal following since they combine a light yet robust construction with a snappy flex and superior downhill performance. Just what you need in a modern touring ski. Black Diamond have always emphasized the downhill capabilities of these skis, with for example their well known publicity "It's all about the Down", however these skis are equally effective when climbing, the carbon construction and latest generation design features making these skis very light for their width.

For 2026 Black Diamond have updated the series. There are still four models. The Helio Carbon 88 & 95 retain the same width underfoot, while the wider skis have been been slimmed down from 104 & 115 mm to 102 and 108 mm, the latter more practical width for powder touring.

Designed for skiers looking for a lightweight yet high-performance ski for longer ascents and technical descents, the Helio Carbon 88 is the narrowest in the series. The practical 120-88-111 mm sidecut and 18 m radius (170 cm) stay unchanged, while the updated construction has shaved some grams, making these skis even better when climbing. The Helio Carbon 88s have a high-tech light paulownia wood core with pre-preg carbon fiber layup, providing torsional stiffness, a balanced flex and efficient dampening for a smooth, controlled ride. Tip rocker tip improves flotation in softer snow and aids turn initiation, while the full ABS sidewalls ensure durability and shock absorption. Black Diamond have given these skis reinforced ABS tail protectors with a built-in skin-clip notches, helping to secure skins during climbs. 

The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 88 excels as a lightweight, versatile backcountry ski with excellent downhill performance and precision, suitable for advanced skiers tackling long tours and technical terrain. This excellent efficient series touring ski has just become even better.
