Armada Declivity X108 With the Declivity X108, Armada developed a new mold and construction last winter to make this model a true freeride ski. The previous Declivity 108 was essentially a widened Declivity 102—meaning it was a very good carver for its width but lacked some pivot and liveliness underfoot. It was highly effective in all types of snow thanks to its pronounced rocker, but its flat tail required you to constantly maintain forward pressure on the tongue.
The Declivity X108 now features a perfectly balanced rocker distribution; the tip remains intuitive and effective in all conditions, but without the “slipper” effect of the old tip. The tail is a major improvement, offering much more pivot, no anchoring—you can really “throw” your feet around and pivot quickly, which is much more effective in tight spots. Underfoot, the Armada Declivity X108 is reinforced with titanal, and the feeling of solidity remains even at high speeds.
The Declivity X108 is still very different from the ARV 112, for instance. It’s still a true freeride ski, less playful than the ARV 112, but more fun than the previous Declivity 108.
Aimed primarily at strong skiers, the Declivity X108 is improved in every way: much more versatile and quick, and it could be your one-ski quiver if you’re not afraid to ski wide skis in the resort. It was a big hit with experienced freeriders last winter and continues to be at the forefront of its category.
Armada Declivity X108 Ski Features:
Core: Poplar Core – Stability, power and ease are paramount in this 100% Poplar wood core. For those looking for predictability and smoothness the Poplar Core delivers in all snow conditions. Laminates: ATB-X – A more condensed version of Armada's ATB (Articulated Titanal Banding), ATB-X has been modified for a focused, damp feeling underfoot, but by reducing the amount of metal & weight in the extremities of the ski it becomes much more poppy, loose, and freeride feeling. Titanal: A Titanal layer adds horsepower to the ski with uncompromising performance. Elastic Compound Layer: This layer allows the ski to enter a turn with ease while compressing and releasing even more energy out of the turn than a traditional Ti layer. Rocker Type: EST Freeride Rocker – Fore body rocker and extra tip-taper combine to create EST for optimized float in the soft stuff. Positive camber under foot with no tail rocker ensures these skis stay on rails when carving is the priority Flex: Flex (1=Soft, 10=Stiff) – Tip: 7 | Mid: 8 | Tail: 8 Sidewalls: AR100 Sidewall Base: Comp Series Base – Sintered UHMW polyethylene with added carbon aids in speed and durability on snow. Edges: 2.1 All Mountain Edge – Heat treated and built to avoid excess weight while maintaining durability, this edge gives the best balance of durability and feel of Armada's whole collection
