Based at Thyez in the northern Alps, half way between Chamonix and Geneva, Plum are a small French company specialised in precision engineering. Plum have been developing bindings in conjunction with the Compagnie de Guides at Chamonix, and supply binding to the Chasseurs Alpins, the elite French mountain soldiers of the French army. Plum touring bindings are robust, easy to use and super reliable, so much so that Plum offer a three year guarantee on all touring bindings
Weighing only 200 g per ski, the Plum Oazo is designed for ski tourers looking for a lightweight minimalist binding that weighs as little as possible but has more sophisticated release than a pure race binding.
The Oazo has adjustable lateral release with a range 4-10. The Oazo has "U" springs with fixed vertical release, but Plum offers a choice of three different springs with release 4, 6 or 8. Light yet rigid, the toepiece baseplate comes with an optional crampon slot. The heel unit has 25 mm boot length adjustment (+12.5 mm / -12.5 mm) and adjustable lateral release 4-10. In walk mode turn the heel unit 90° for flat mode, or leave ski position to access the 41 & 54 mm heel lifts, easy to flip over with ski poles.
The Oazo has adjustable lateral release with a range 4-10. The Oazo has "U" springs with fixed vertical release, but offers a choice of three different springs, hence the three bindings Oazo 4, Oazo 6, Oazo 8, with the number corresponding to the vertical release. We'd recommend that skiers choose which suits them as follows: Oazo 4: Skier weight 35-65 kg Oazo 6: Skier weight 50-80 kg Oazo 8: Skier weight 70-100 kg
A clean reliable binding that let's you concentrate on the skiing, the Oazo is stiff enough for skiing the steeps and light enough for effortless climbing, the Oazo has gained a loyal following since it's introduction in 2018. Ideal for training and efficient touring, the Oazo is sure to be in demand again this winter.
